IBFAC celebrates African diasporic authors visiting Martha’s Vineyard and beyond. We strive to create a safe and supportive space for Black authors to reach readers and other community members to engage with each other and share their work. Our mission is to amplify Black diasporic authors by connecting writers, readers, communities, and publishing industry professionals and providing a platform for African diasporic voices to be heard.
There is a commitment to help promote and elevate the works of African diasporic authors. A community endeavor initially conceived by Sheryl Wesley, Founder of Martha’s Vineyard HBCU Week Legacy Week on the Vineyard, the collective was formed to provide authors with the opportunity to discuss their craft, engage with readers, and gain exposure. IBFAC will also hosts interactive workshops and book signings that encourage audience participation and inspire the next generation of writers.
There is a believe in the power of books to inspire, educate, and create a sense of community. By connecting readers with authors, we can help bridge the gap between generations and cultures. We aim to be a source of knowledge and support for our community and contribute to a more diverse and inclusive environment.
