Fest™ (MVCF) on August 7, 2017. The brainchild of MVCF Managing Partner Steve Capers, and nationally renowned comedian Damon Williams, the festival found a home in Martha’s Vineyard, the enclave that each summer draws high-profile African-American professionals, politicians, actors, writers, athletes, business owners and good folks who congregate to enjoy galleries, live music, films, theater, dance, speaker series and, of course, comedy in a wonderfully vibrant and casual environment. Now the dynamic team behind MVCF is ready to brand BLACK COMEDY MONTH™ as a national campaign.
A summer concert series on Martha's Vineyard featuring a diverse lineup of music genres such as R&B, hip-hop, jazz, gospel, Afro-beats, and dance house music sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate holidays and vacations. A Martha's Vineyard Summer Groove Fest can become a must-visit event for music lovers, providing unforgettable summer experiences for locals and tourists alike.

Performances combine songs, acting, dancing, spoken dialogue that becomes essential to the Black Community. From the early 20th Century to today's society, black musical theater gave African Americans a way to express themselves and tell our stories from our perspectives. Before Black independent musical theaters came about, most African American singers and entertainers performed in minstrel shows, which showcases black people’s stereotypes.
Now having our own shows and theaters, black actors and singers can perform their own stories and perform their own music and skills.
